Situated on Salt Spring island off the south coast of BC it is a great resource for heirloom seeds especially tomatoes and garlic bulbs.
Stellar Seeds
A family based business in the Kootenays BC. They sell open-pollinated, GMO-free seed.
Seeds of Diversity
A great resource for learning how to save your own seed, finding out where to get open pollinated seed, swapping seeds with members. There is information about Canada’s traditional plants, preserving rare and heritage seeds and promoting and protection biodiversity. I got a detailed booklet from them about how to save seeds. They promote seedy saturdays and have a listing of them around Canada.
Prairie Garden Seeds
Located in Humboldt Saskatchewan, there is no doubt that the seeds they sell from their family business are well adapted to the cold.
West Coast Seeds
Based in the lower mainland BC. While much of the information on this site is only applicable for their mild climate you can purchase open pollinated, certified organic seed.
Botanus (Bulbs)
I’ve been buying bulbs from this BC company since they started. They have a fabulous selection. You can get hardy bulbs for your garden or for forcing indoors as well as non hardy bulbs for the summer garden or indoors for the winter garden.
Gardens North (seeds)
Sells seed for an amazing variety of hardy, ornamental, woody and herbaceous perennials as well as annuals.

Explains how plants get their botanical names It is better to use botanical names so there is no doubt which plant you are refering too. Many different plants have the same common name.
